grandpa megorden

My grandpa Megorden was an amazing man and I am fortunate to have many of his things to remind me of him. He moved with his mother and father to a homestead in Clearwater when he was a young boy.  Since he was the only child there a teacher was sent to teach just him or he took correspondence courses. I have some of the books and work from a course in art that he took in 1923. He seemed to be able to do anything he put his mind to, like building a water system to provide electricity for their  remote homestead many years before most people had it available.  He watched for enemy planes during the war and was head of a Civil ConservationCorps camp in the area. When I knew him he was a very respected machinist, always busy in his shop. Even though he has been gone many years I think of him when I see these mementos and even more I see his strengths, traits and talents in my sons, who have themselves become amazing men. -Sandy
