A weekend away

Enjoying an evening on the porch

Sister Rhondi and I decided to take a weekend and go to Port Townsend. It had been a long time since we had been there for more than passing through to get the ferry. Our weekend started Friday night when I arrived at her house on the prairie with some Blue Moon and oranges.  It was so nice sitting out on her front porch, enjoying the sun and the sound of her fountain. We woke up early on Saturday morning, grabbed some coffee and headed out. Our first stop was at a nice little café in “Uptown” Port Townsend where we had a great breakfast.

Our table was next to the window and we had fun watching people coming and going to the local farmer’s market.  After we were done eating we walked over to the farmer’s market and spent time wandering through the booths and looking at all the wares.

It was a beautiful day and the bright colors, music and throngs of people gave it a festival type atmosphere.

We then went “downtown” and looked through all the great shops.

Mainly we just looked, but I did find a hat that I could not pass up!

Later in the day when most people were off eating their dinners, we took our cameras, parked the car and walked through one of the older neighborhoods. We saw some great fences.

We decided to get a hotel for the night instead of going home and had a leisurely dinner before going back to the room and going through all the pictures that we had taken. The next morning we went downtown to get more pictures.

It was early and the shops were all closed, so there were not many people around.  We were able to wander around and get lots of pictures without feeling conspicuous.

It was amazing to be amongst all the old buildings with no sounds but the gulls and realize that it would have sounded the same way back in the 1800s.

We had a great time and went home with lots of pictures. It makes me want to plan another weekend away to some other great spot in this great state of ours. -Sandy

Down on the Farm “old style” 365

carrotTimeVintage

Digital photography has come such a long way and the ability to edit with a stylus rather than dodging and burning in a darkroom means that we have a whole smorgasbord of effects to choose from. Ironically, I seem to gravitate to the old film styles. I wanted to give a timeless look to this one which simply depicts whats going on. Not an art piece for sure but a great way to document a day in the life here on the Prairie.

This one is simply Milo. I think his haircut suits the genre.

The saying “under the weather” really fits how I’ve been feeling the last couple of days. I have been getting better, but just can’t seem to come out from under the clouds. The weather outside is matching how I feel, dark and dreary. Oh well. I’m sure that soon I will be as good as a nice sunny day. -Sandy

Lazy Coves and Red Wagons 365

RadioFlyer

Found this little red wagon surrounded by emerging tulips. I used a muted filter to add to the days gone by feel of the rusty wagon. It also takes away from the plastic hanger bits on one of the pots. If it was my wagon I could have just rearranged the pots. Now that I think about it I might rework this in photoshop and change it up a bit…
My first job was on this quiet little cove. Breathtaking. Was happy to have a little sailboat to shoot.

Been a little busy 365

I’ve been slacking on the 365 project but not on the photo taking end. Had a very busy weekend With the United Way fundraiser.

This was my dinner. I wish that I had had the time to enjoy every morsel. The auction was going on whilst we were eating so I was running around trying to get shots without getting in the way of the festivities. Sheesh a whirlwind for sure, learned what to do better next time, uploaded everything on the rlperdueimages.com site with the help of sister Sandy and am now trying to wind down. So let this be good enough. Back on schedule tomorrow.- Rhondi

Still Busy 365

Why is it that things take so much longer to do than planned? I have been working on projects for the big United Way Gala and what seemed simple turned into a long job.  I was feeling overwhelmed, but on Saturday the cavalry rode into town! My sister in law, brother and boys came over and worked all day with me. The projects are on track to be done on time now. Thanks family. You guys rock!
