A crafty time 365

valentines galore

valentines galore

We had a great time with friends the other night. An excellent dinner with fruit, nuts and cheese for dessert. After dinner they got out a bunch of crafty stuff and we proceeded to make valentines. It was so fun to let our creativity flow. No wrong or right here, just cut, glitter and add ribbons as we pleased.

This is a picture of sister being crafty. Note it is just her hands and her camera. That is all I am allowed to take a picture of. In fact she just called and informed me of this fact. Threatened me actually. Sisters can do that. -Sandy

Silo in Satsop 365

McComb Silo

McComb Silo

Yet another silo. This is one I pass every time I turn off the freeway into Satsop. I did not notice it for years. It has no roof and is surrounded by lots of metal junk. What I call junk anyway. Old car parts, rusty containers and tractor parts. Man junk. I know, I am a snob. If it were surrounded by old wroght iron fences, spinning wheels and various garden stuff, I would think it was quaint! Poor silo. It looks like no one has loved it for years.  Oh well. It is loved now by me and I will keep it’s picture with all the others I collect, despite it’s junk and lack of roof. -Sandy

A Good Day 365

Great Granddaughter

Great Granddaughter

Ok. Back to regular life! I took my daughter and  her granddaughter to the store today, so got to take a few pictures. I also checked the nest box and lo and behold the chickens have started laying again.

I Love Moo 365

moo5I love, love, love Moo. It’s where I buy my business cards. The company is a designers dream. They are also very fast. I needed some business cards for the United Way Black and White Gala that I get to shoot this weekend. I wanted a unique way to let people know where they could view all the photos that will be taken online. Presentation, presentation, presentation. I ordered them on Sunday nite and waited excitedly for them to arrive.

I really like Moo because they not only think outside the box they include a box too!

moo3

I chose a square format. The paper is extremely heavy. They almost feel like bar coasters. Little works of art.

moo4

Thanks Moo! I am totally smitten and satisfied! Oh, and they were on sale… Boy do they make me look important. –Rhondi

Step away 365

unfinished or "shabby chic" blocks

unfinished or “shabby chic” blocks

I need to step away from these blocks. They have taken up so much of my mind for the last couple of weeks that I had to use them as “art”. I really liked the lines and shadows of them before they were painted, but I also had to get a shot of the finished ones.

Here they stand, looking so formal

Painted they look so formal standing there, which is really good since they will be part of a very formal affair. I felt like I should make them little bow ties!  I know. Step away from the blocks.  Okay. How about cows? That’s about as far away from blocks as you can get. -Sandy

Very nice neighbors to have

Mom, Dutch Bros., and thank you Isaak 365

dutchbrothersThis post is actually my yesterday and today combined. The Dutch Bros. Breve’ Latte was purchased on my way home from work today. It was delicious and exactly what I needed. Adding to the flavor was the fact that it was a freebie that came with my full punchcard.

The other two photos that I’m including I found while combing through my image files. These came off Mom’s camera, probably on one of my “here let me download these so you’ll have a copy” occasions. I’ve never seen these. they were off by themselves in an unnamed folder. As soon as I saw this photo I smiled. Anybody that knows my mom will see that this image contains a treasure-trove of “mom” details.

I first notice that the Hal Lindsy Report is highlighted on her tv screen. Her boots and crocs are near the back door, and her “tiny house” is filled with the coolest stuff. I also like that her piano is in the shot. I have no way of knowing when this was taken but I do think I know who took it.

Silo trek 365

Moore Rd. silo

Moore Rd. silo

I have lived in this area for over 15 years, but for some reason it was only in December that I started to notice all the silos around. I knew we had a couple, but was shocked when I started really looking as I drove down the road. They are all over!  It makes me wish I could see this wide valley of ours back in the day when working farms covered it. Now, so many of the silos stand alone, their companion barns gone. Many of them look like they will rot away also. I’ve made it my goal this year to go down every rural road in this area, find and photograph all the silos I can find. The oldest, a wooden one was one of the first pictures my sis helped me with. This one is just across the field from our place. I think it was owned by the family that owned the feed store in Elma.

Still Busy 365

Why is it that things take so much longer to do than planned? I have been working on projects for the big United Way Gala and what seemed simple turned into a long job.  I was feeling overwhelmed, but on Saturday the cavalry rode into town! My sister in law, brother and boys came over and worked all day with me. The projects are on track to be done on time now. Thanks family. You guys rock!

Shadows and Charles Smith 365

ThankCharles

As some of you know I get to shoot wine bottles. Specifically I shoot EFESTE and Charles Smith wine bottles. This means That I have a nice little supply of wine in the pantry. In honor of seeing shadows today I decided to break out the “Royal City” Syrah. Thanks Charles.

I came into the kitchen just in time to see this. I ran and got my camera. Next thing I know this is what I saw in my viewfinder.

Waiting for news 365

Lately I’ve been processing a lot of black and white images. I had made up my mind to bring a little color back into my world. I’m not really a big fan of red only photos but this version kept calling to me so here we are.

coatrack

This is the “Bearded Ones” hat rack. As I’m shooting this he is at the local alpaca rescue center where our own Sabrina is staying due to a mysterious health issue that has caused her to stop eating for the last week. It’s 7:30 pm and I am waiting for the latest vet report. These girls of ours have become quite dear to us and it has been especially hard for The “Bearded One”. We had thought that things were looking up but she seemed to take a turn for the worse this morning so we wait. Here is dear Sabrina during the last cold spell.

sabrina

Good News! After trying everything he could think of the vet sedated her and put a feeding tube down her throat and into her stomach. That must’ve dislodged whatever was keeping her from swallowing because as she came out of sedation she began to eat. Hooray! The “Bearded One” came home late, cold, and tired but a very happy camper indeed!
